Twenty Six - Day Ethiopia Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Addis Ababa
Arrive in Ethiopia’s vibrant capital city, Addis Ababa. Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax or enjoy a brief introduction to the city.
Overnight in Addis Ababa.


Day 2 – Addis Ababa City Tour
Enjoy a full-day cultural and historical tour of Addis Ababa. Visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the National Museum of Ethiopia, and the Ethnographic Museum. In the late afternoon, drive up to Entoto Mountain for panoramic views of the capital city.
Overnight in Addis Ababa.


Day 3 – Fly to Bahir Dar
Take a morning flight to Bahir Dar. Upon arrival, drive approximately 30 km to visit the spectacular Blue Nile Falls (Tis Abay). Explore the impressive gorge of the Blue Nile River and enjoy a short walk along the riverbanks.

Day 4 – Lake Tana Boat Excursion
Enjoy a boat trip on Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake. Observe hippos along the shoreline and visit ancient island monasteries known for their beautiful religious paintings and manuscripts. You will also see the source of the Blue Nile River.

Day 5 – Drive to Gondar
Drive to the historic city of Gondar. Along the way, stop to visit the historic Guzara Palace and the fascinating Awuramba Community Village, known for its unique social lifestyle and traditions.

Day 6 – Historical Tour of Gondar
Spend the day exploring Gondar’s remarkable historical and cultural attractions. Visit the Royal Enclosure of Emperor Fasilides and his successors, the Debre Birhan Selassie Church, Fasilides’ Bath, and the historic Jewish village of Weleka.
Overnight in Gondar.


Day 7 – Simien Mountains National Park
Drive to the breathtaking Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a scenic hike and encounter the endemic Gelada Baboon, one of Ethiopia’s most iconic wildlife species.

Day 8 – Chennek Excursion
Travel to Sankaber Camp and continue to Chennek, one of the best locations to observe the rare Walia Ibex. Enjoy a hike to the spectacular Jinbahir Waterfall while admiring the dramatic landscapes and wildlife of the park.

Day 9 – Fly to Lalibela
Drive to Gondar Airport and take a flight to Lalibela. Upon arrival, drive 42 km to visit the remarkable Yimrehane Kristos Church, one of the oldest and finest rock-hewn churches in the region.

Day 10 – Lalibela Rock-Hewn Churches
Spend the entire day exploring the world-famous rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. These eleven monolithic churches are among Ethiopia’s greatest historical and spiritual treasures.

Day 11 – Fly to Axum
Take a morning flight to Axum. After checking into your hotel, visit the ancient St. Mary of Zion Church, the Archaeological Museum, and the famous Axum Stelae.

Day 12 – Axum to Hawzen
Drive to Hawzen with a stop at the ancient Temple of Yeha, considered one of Ethiopia’s oldest historical monuments. In the afternoon, climb to the spectacular Abune Yemata Guh Church, dramatically perched on a cliff in the Tigray Mountains.
Overnight in Hawzen.


Day 13 – Hawzen to Mekele
Hike to the historic rock-hewn churches of Korkur Mariam. Later, drive toward Mekele with a stop at the Al Nejashi Mosque in Wukro, an important Islamic heritage site linked to the first Muslim migration to Ethiopia.

Day 14 – Danakil Depression Adventure
Drive to the extraordinary Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and lowest places on Earth. In the evening, visit the salt flats and enjoy a spectacular sunset over the surreal landscape.

Day 15 – Salt Lakes and Caravan Experience
Explore the salt lakes and colorful mineral formations of the Danakil Depression. Witness the traditional camel caravans transporting salt blocks across the desert before returning to Mekele in the afternoon.

Day 16 – Fly to Hawassa
Fly back to Addis Ababa and connect to Hawassa. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. After lunch, enjoy a city tour of Hawassa and admire the beautiful lakeside scenery.

Day 17 – Wondo Genet Excursion
Drive to the lush ecological area of Wondo Genet. Explore the dense forests, observe various bird species and monkeys, and enjoy an optional three-hour trek to a beautiful waterfall. Return to Hawassa in the late afternoon.

Day 18 – Drive to Arba Minch
Drive south to Arba Minch, arriving in the afternoon. After checking into your hotel, relax while enjoying panoramic views of Lakes Abaya and Chamo.

Day 19 – Lake Chamo and Dorze Village
Take a morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles, hippos, and various bird species. Continue to the famous Forty Springs, from which Arba Minch gets its name. In the afternoon, visit the Dorze Village to experience their unique culture, traditional bamboo houses, and weaving traditions.
Overnight in Arba Minch.


Day 20 – Konso Cultural Landscape
Drive to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape. Explore the terraced farmlands, traditional villages, and remarkable indigenous soil conservation systems. Visit the famous natural rock formation known as the “New York Tower.”

Day 21 – Drive to Turmi
Drive to Turmi through the stunning landscapes of the Lower Omo Valley. In the evening, experience the traditional dances and cultural ceremonies of the Hamer people.
Overnight in Turmi.


Day 22 – Dasanech and Bana Tribes
Visit the Dasanech tribe and learn about their unique lifestyle and social traditions. Continue driving toward Jinka, stopping along the way to visit the Bana tribe and observe their fascinating cultural practices.
Overnight in Jinka.


Day 23 – Mursi Tribe and Harar
Drive to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, renowned for their distinctive cultural traditions. Return to Jinka and fly to Addis Ababa, then connect to Dire Dawa. Upon arrival, drive to the historic walled city of Harar.
Overnight in Harar.


Day 24 – Harar Historical Tour
Enjoy a full-day tour of Harar, one of the most important Islamic heritage cities in Africa. Visit Harar Jegol (the old walled city), the house of Ras Mekonnen, traditional Harari homes, and experience the famous Hyena Feeding Ceremony in the evening.
Overnight in Harar.


Day 25 – Return to Addis Ababa
Drive to Dire Dawa Airport and take a flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, the tour concludes with unforgettable memories of Ethiopia’s rich history, cultures, landscapes, and wildlife.
At the end of the tour, guests are warmly invited to share their feedback and reviews about their unique travel experiences in Ethiopia.

Day 26 - fly back to home 

On this day, it depends your International flight time, we transfer you to Bole International Airport.

A detailed travel agreement will be sent after registration, and guests are kindly requested to read and sign the contract.
